“The house was quiet and parking was good and handy, the lighting was poor horrible 11 watt bulbs kitchenwas the worse would be no good for any one with poor eye sight.”

“A wonderful holiday let in a beautiful village.”

I’ve looked at booking this a few times and it didn’t disappoint. Pre arrival information was excellent, allocated parking space on arrival. We arrived late but the lights were on it was lovely and warm and a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge was a welcome sight. Thank you for the thoughtful welcome basket. Very stylish the beds were so comfortable everything catered for with some lovely little extra touches. Thank you for a wonderful stay we wished we were staying longer.

“This is compact accommodation so expectations should be adjusted accordingly.”

It was perfect for us two and our Labrador but with four guests it might feel a little crowded. Excellent communication with owners who provide a helpful welcome pack including a bottle of Prosecco. The house was warm, spotlessly clean, with basic kitchen equipment. Unlike another reviewer of the owners’ adjacent property, we didn’t think Prosecco glasses were needed, although deeper larger bowls for dishes like pasta would be useful. Although located a little set back from a reasonably busy road, the house is well insulated from traffic noise and we slept well on and extremely comfortable bed. Longframlington is well situated for exploring this part of Northumberland; we had good walks on local beaches, with Warkworth a favourite, and visited a few of the National Trust properties in the vicinity. Overall, a great little holiday cottage and we’d thoroughly recommend.

“We had a very comfortable stay at Acorn cottage, which was very clean, well kept with good facilities.”

The TV Sports package was certainly very much appreciated by my husband and my son! As was the kind welcome pack with wine, biscuits and the lovely flowers provided by the hosts. Perhaps the only thing which would make it absolutely perfect would be the addition of a dish washer, which I missed. All in all a great holiday in a lovely village in a gray area! Thank you.

“Positives, lovely crisp bed linen, comfy bed and soft towels.”

Decent location to explore Northumberland. Starter pack of tea, coffee etc and a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge was very much appreciated. Cons, under equipped, be prepared to bring washing up liquid, oven gloves, any cleaning products other than hand wash, no worktop saver/chopping board, no condiments at all (I realise covid has had an impact but all other cottages we’ve stayed in since 2020 have had all of the above). Also some desirables missing, full length mirror, no clock, no pen. We probably would go back if we wanted to stay in the area again if the price was lowered, definitely wasn’t value for money, but we’d be more prepared next time.

“Just had a week at Acorn Cottage (20th/27th May) and can ony say the cottage was everything we expected it to be.”

Spotlessly clean, easily managed and a very comfortable bed. It was conveniently positioned to enable us to visit many castles and beautiful beaches. The village had everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. A good stocked shop, paper shop, The Running Fox sandwich bar, lovely butchers and The Village Inn pub which was really good for meals.

Lots of walks without too much driving, useful bus to Rothbury. Wonderful beaches not too far away. The only thing we could improve about the house would be to swap the washing machine for a dishwasher .

“Nice cottage and very warm.”

We had to pick up several dog poops which were around the rear garden on the shingle obviously left by previous owners which was disappointing. We would suggest this is part of the cleaning inspection process. The only other issue might be worth mentioning to guests is to turn off the bathroom extractor fan unless you what to be kept awake for two hours as that is what the timer seems to be set at! Other than that we liked the location and its access to local attractions. Terry and Lesley

“Lovely cosy, well-equipped cottage with owners that go above and beyond to ensure you are welcomed and have everything you need.”

Fantastic communication on the facilities, cleaning regime, key collection and the numerous annoying questions I sent to them - nothing was too much trouble. Ideally placed to visit all the local attractions, and a fantastic local pub (The Village Inn) with lots of different choices of dishes and cuisines and a local sandwich bar (The running fox) with epic lunch options. All furnishings are high end and quality pieces, the beds are the comfiest I've ever slept on and great to have a smart TV with Sky Sports too. Clean, comfy base for our family holiday, will hopefully return to the cottage next door with the grandparents at a later date (owned by Kevin & Claire also).

The cottage (a modern build) was perfect, spotlessly clean, comfortable (the beds are superb), spacious yet had a cosy feel, parking, quiet, had everything we needed and is located in a lovely friendly village that has good amenities. We visited many places from Longframlington including Holy Island, Bamburgh. Alnwick, Morpeth, Rothbury, Hadrians Wall and Sea Houses. The owners were very accommodating and easy to contact and left an appreciated welcome pack. Thank you.

“We had a leak in the bathroom which came into the kitchen.”

The owners attended to this quickly and efficiently without involving Sykes. The large flat screen TV was mounted on the very thin party wall, so that the neighbours complained about the reasonable volume of our TV. The TV was out of proportion with the thin party wall. We understand that had been regular complaints previously. Could be resolved by either 1) having a smaller TV NOT mounted on the party wall, or 2) using sound insulation for a very modest cost on both Acorn’s wall and the neighbours. There was no checkout information available at the cottage

The house and garden was really nice and furnished well, (garden would benefit from a parasol/shade as the weather was very hot and sunny and there was no shade for the children). But other than that it was fab!

“The cottage was spotlessly clean and very well equipped, with a nice welcome pack provided.”

This was greatly appreciated as we arrived quite late on the Friday evening. We did interact with the owners who proved their worth by responding very quickly to a tiny query that we had. The beds were very comfy and there was plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space. Hairdryers supplied if needed too. Plenty of equipment in the kitchen, though we only cooked a couple of times despite best intentions - the pub beckoned! We would definitely recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday. The village of Longframlington has everything that you need - it has 2 pubs, although we definitely favoured The Village for both food and the friendliness of the staff and locals. It is also dog friendly which helped as we had 2 pooches with us. The reviews all suggest that the Granby is better for food, but we found it very average (though we did only get a takeaway), and the pub itself was soulless. Not somewhere I'd feel comfortable going for a couple of beers after a long day's walking. The Running Fox bakery has an amazing selection of artisan bread, cakes and snacks which we found hard to resist. it also offers takeaway coffees/teas if that's what you're looking for. We used Carr's, the corner shop and everyone there was very friendly and there was a good selection of items to buy (though we only picked up a few things that we'd forgotten). We didn't go to the butchers, but there was always a queue outside which is testament to its popularity. Being on the edge of the Cheviot Hills the variety of walks and vistas was incredible and we were exhausted every night from exploring the area. We visited Alnwick to go to Barter Books which is really worth the trip. We also went to the beach at Drurudge bay twice. Once we walked south from the country park and then the next time we walked North to Amble and back along the cliff path. The beach is 7 miles long and absolutely stunning. We did a walk from Rothbury up to the Cheviots - that's a nice place to visit too. We did a circular walk along Hadrian's Wall from Steel Rigg - that was challenging because of all of the steps, but absolutely stunning. We did a walk into the Cheviots from Alwinton which was stunning - really rugged and remote, we loved it.

“We enjoyed our stay, the only thing we would comment on was the fact that the property lacked an essential item when one is having a vacation and that was a DISHWASHER.”

. The owner said that there was no space available but actually there was a cupboard that was not being used that could have housed a small unit. That would have given a 10 and an "exceeded expecations" in my rating.
