    “The house was gorgeous: in a wonderful location with wildlife all around.”

    It's a huge house with lots of space. Love the two lounges. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds and couches were comfortable, and we loved the views from all the windows. A wonderful stay, thank you.

This stunning, stone-fronted cottage rests near Fontburn reservoir, perfect for peaceful walks, and hosts five beautiful bedrooms for a family or 10 friends looking to explore the rolling countryside of Northumberland. Follow the circular driveway to reach private parking spaces, here you can soak in the setting as you unload the vehicle with ease. Step through the duck-egg door into the spacious hallway, with a storage cupboard to house your coats, ready for an adventure. Moving through the property, admire the underfloor heating beneath your feet as you find the open-plan living space, well-presented and the perfect place to socialise. Keep the designated chef company in the kitchen area, as you sip a glass of wine at the island and make use of the American fridge/freezer to store your favourite treats. When dinner is served, gather around the dining table to tuck-into heart-warming meals and chat amongst yourselves about the splendid time away. The living space also offers a toasty woodburning stove to set a relaxing ambiance, and a sofa to enjoy the TV. The capital of Coquetdale, Rothbury lies on the north bank of the famous salmon and trout river, the Coquet, and is dominated by the heather clad Simonside Hills. It is an attractive, small market town and its proximity to Northumberland’s National Park ensures excellent local walking. Stone houses, typical of the region, line the town’s steep main streets and there is a good range of shops on offer. With a golf course, public tennis courts and cycle hire close by and a variety of great houses and gardens to explore, including Cragside, Alnwick Castle (home of the Duke of Northumberland), Wallington Hall and a host of famous castles, this great location has plenty to offer.
