Georgina “Lovely cottage we really enjoyed our stay.”
It was spotless when we arrived and very well looked after. The hosts had thought of everything we could possibly need, tea and coffee were provided and a lovely welcome tray with wine and snacks was a nice touch. Catherine popped in when arrived and gave us some very helpful information about the area. The cottage is in a great location for exploring the area and the village of Ledbury is beautiful with lots of lovely walks nearby and you can walk to the beach within 30 mins. Thanks for a lovely holiday
- Georgina, August 2024Michelle “Miller’s Retreat is a fantastic place to stay.”
It is very comfortably and tastefully furnished with everything we could possibly need. The location is great with nice walks from the door and has easy access to lots of towns and attractions by car, bus and train. Catherine, the owner, was extremely helpful in recommending places to go and also left a delicious tray of treats on arrival. It was definitely worth the long drive up from the South, we didn’t want to leave at the end of our week’s stay.
- Michelle, July 2024Rosemary “We couldn't have been happier with the cottage.”
It was beautifully furnished and the kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were extremely comfortable. The owner was very welcoming and had left milk, coffee and tea, wine and yummy biscuits and a box of treats for the dogs! Excellent holiday home!

Nice host who made the stay very easy with excellent communications throughout.
- Andrew, October 2023Maria “A cosy well equipped cottage in a pretty village close to local amenities (a community run village shop and the cottage is also only a short drive from Alnwick).”
Walks from the door and beaches within 5 minutes of the cottage. Lots of information from the hosts. We had a great holiday with our new rescue dog and hope to book the cottage again
- Maria, October 2023Jarrod “The cottage was very well appointed, tastefully decorated to a high standard.”
Double bed was comfortable, plenty of storage in the room. Excellent rain shower & fully equipped kitchen. All very clean. The only disadvantages were having no washing machine & if our friends had come to stay, there was not enough room for 3 cars to park as suggested. We would certainly come back
- Jarrod, September 2023Graham “Everything about the Cottage was first class - as were the Owners who were very helpful.”
- Graham, September 2023Martin “Beautiful cottage in lovely village.”
Fantastic dog walks in local vicinity. Thank you for welcome pack. Everything you could need for a wonderful stay. Many thanks for recommending local deli in Alnwick, food was very nice. As always Northumbrian people so friendly , a pleasure to visit. Will be back. Martin & Elaine & Leo.

- Julie, July 2023Leslie “We had an excellent week at Millers Retreat.”
The cottage is comfortable, clean and provides excellent facilities. Catherine and Peter also provide very good information on the area and we enjoyed visiting the many local places of interest and some very enjoyable walks. Within easy visiting distance there are also many good places providing really nice evening dining.
- Leslie, July 2023Malcolm “We stayed at Millers Retreat in June 2022 for 7 nights and enjoyed the area and accommodation so much we booked again for 14 night June 2024.”
On both occasions the weather was great. There are many walks from the property, coastal, river and countryside and so many interesting places within a short drive or bus ride. The cottage is very well equiped with welcome packs for humans and dogs. Good offroad parking and a small secure gravel garden with table, chairs and BBQ. Location was perfect for us and if the nearby pub opens again it would add an extra attraction.

The cottage was beautiful and had everything we could possibly need. The house was so quiet and the beds were comfortable. - David, June 2022Malcolm “Millers retreat is a perfect holiday retreat, the location although a mile from the coast and Alnmouth is ideal.”
Footpaths run through or from the location (Lesbury) to Almouth, Alnwick and there are links to the Coastal Path to go north or south without having to walk with traffic. Bus stops in or just outside the village provide access to the excellent network with services going North, South, East and West. We parked the car on arrival and it didn't move for the week. The area is stunning, fabulous coastline, beautiful towns and villages, lovely friendly people and lots of historical interest. The cottage is very well equipped for dogs and their human companions with many surprise touches. The enclosed small garden area is a safe space and the afternoon sun makes it a great place to chill after a day exploring. We enjoyed it so much we have booked a two week stay next year. Malcolm & Gillian Young plus Merri.
- Malcolm, June 2022Catherine “Just returned from a week in this lovely cottage.”
It thoroughly deserves all the previous 5 star feedbacks.
- Catherine, May 2022Kate “Well equipped cottage that was comfortable and situated in a great village location, right on the coastal route, close to Alnwick for shops (inc M&S foodhall) as well as the coast and lovely countryside.”
The walk into Alnmouth takes 30mins across the fields - make sure you book if you are hoping to get a meal (Hope & Anchor very good). Buses to Berwick pass through the village. Doggy friendly. Beds comfortable. Good shower. Owner checked everything ok. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.
- Kate, April 2022Deborah “We had a wonderful week's stay at Miller's Retreat.”
Catherine the host could not have done more for us and was very helpful with advice about the local area. The cottage was beautiful, spacious, cosy and well equipped with everything you could need. Lovely to come back to after chilly walks on the beach. A lovely garden area to sit and relax too! The area was a perfect base to explore and we cannot recommend highly enough. We are hoping to return soon, thank you!

Attention to detail and personal touches second to none. Massive downsize - Strong smell of pets in lounge which lasted for 4 full days before dissipating. Would not return to Miller's Retreat because of this.

It was extremely well equipped and had everything you could possibly need! The owner paid us a curtesy call making sure that everything was ok. I would recommend this property without reservations.
- Patricia, October 2021Ian “This cottage was like a home away from home.”
Beautifully presented, marvelously situated. Just a pity, due to problems at home, we could not appreciate the whole week.
- Ian, October 2021Lesley “We had a lovely week in Miller's Retreat.”
The accommodation is small but was ideal for the two of us and the dog. The owners were lovely and came to check that we had everything we needed and shared their local knowledge. They also left a thoughtful welcome gift and absolutely everything we needed was available. We would highly recommend accommodation, from which to enjoy the beautiful Northumbrian coast.
- Lesley, July 2021Alistair “Very cosy cottage, handy for lots of Northumberland sites.”
Would definitely recommend. The local pub is closed, hopefully will reopen at some stage when Covid passes. The owner, Catherine, makes a point of providing everything you might need. We had brought tea towels, bin bags, tea bags etc, but all was already provided. She also popped round to welcome us, and checked to make sure we were all ok. She also provided a bottle of wine, nice biscuits and crisps, which were all very welcome. The information sheets provided were also fantastic. Very useful, with lots of local knowledge provided. Lovely tiny patio type garden at the back for breakfast when the weather is good. Lovely plants and flowers in both the back and front garden. Obviously a talented gardener :) All in all a fantastic experience! Many thanks!

- William, June 2021Thomas “Great accommodation very clean and contained everything needed for cooking, cleaning, dog comfort and more.”
Such a wonderful holiday and will definitely book again. Only one thing that could have improved it for my little chihuahua was the garden, she didn't like the stones and would have preferred grass. but as she was out with us all day it didn't matter too much.

Central heating was efficient and much appreciated in a very wet week. WIFI worked brilliantly and a large selection of dvds to view aswell. Kitchen well equipped and appliances clean and worked properly. Fresh flowers in vases and welcome tray much appreciated after long journey. Excellent laminated instructions for all appliances, and how to work the dvd, tv and digibox. Bathroom was warm and clean, shower very efficient with unlimited hot water. Owner popped round to welcome us and the leaflets and guidebooks left were most helpful as were the two large maps on the kitchen wall. The back garden had some comfy chairs and lovely patio pots where we could catch the evening sun on the one evening it decided to come out!

This is our second stay at the cottage but won't be our last!
