We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 3-4 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was £75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!!
We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

We are pleased that you think the cottage is beautiful and decided to return for another visit having stayed on a previous occasion. It is indeed very disappointing that storm Arwen caused such a disruption to your weekend break.
It is unfortunate that you were unable to locate the welcome pack of logs that we leave for our guests or the torches that are available within the property. At least Neil was able to respond quickly to your request by phone for more logs and candles and in fact was was out in the worst of the weather chopping the extra logs to ensure a plentiful supply.
We were disappointed to read that you felt that no one made contact with you to check that you were ok as attempts were made to speak to you by phone and text, but as you said phone signals were a problem. With this in mind Neil did call to the property to offer any further assistance but he found it difficult to locate you.
This has been a stressful and challenging time for everyone in Wooler and we are sorry if the situation that everyone found themselves may have affected you. Best wishes, The Owners of Cheviot Hills.
