Warkworth
A castle in the sky
This picturesque medieval village is enclosed by a winding loop of the River Coquet and the skyline is dominated by the remains of Warkworth Castle. The castle is owned by English Heritage and is a popular location for many events, including outdoor theatre, throughout the year.
This unspoilt village has many interesting shops and galleries and there's a good selection of tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. Warkworth Bay is a mile from the village and has a quiet, dog friendly beach. Warkworth’s 9-hole links course is located just outside of the village and offers stunning views of the coastline.
